Debbie has experience in the field of practice nursing ranging from clinical and leadership roles. She worked as a General practice Nurse and then as an advanced nurse practitioner for a number of years running triage services and outreach services for the homeless community. As a senior lecturer in education Debbie is currently the deputy lead for the Foundation/PgDip/MSc Primary Care Practice programmes at City St Goerges and GPN pathway lead for Specialist practice. Her passion is educating GPNs across the workforce and promoting community and primary care in the undergraduate nurses' programmes. She is a profilic writer with 21 published books and a range of published journal articles. Her special interests are in the care and management of patients with long term conditions. She is a Queens Nurse and has been involved in a range of national groups such as the Association of respiratory nurses (ARNS) and Community approach for supporting people with advanced cancer (CASPC) . She is also secretary of the association of academic general practice nurse educators (AGPNE)
